Do I need a permit to start classes?

No permit is required to take the driver's ed class. The student must be at least 14.5 years old by the first day of class.

What happens if I miss a class?

The State of North Carolina has requirements that must be met to obtain your learner's permit or license.  Failure to do so will result in you retaking the course.

Does the classroom have to be completed to start behind-the-wheel lessons?

Yes. Once you have completed the class, you can schedule your driving lessons through our website.

How long does it take to complete the class?
  • Teen Driver Ed Course: 2 weeks
  • Adult Driver Ed Course: 1 Day
What happens after I complete the class?

You must return to the Clearview Driving School website to schedule your behind-the-wheel instruction.

What is next when the driver ed course is completed?
  1. You will receive your Driver's Education Certificate, which allows you to apply for a Level One Limited Learner Permit.  This is the first level of North Carolina's graduated licensing process for drivers under age 18.
  2.  Make an appointment at the NC DMV.  (Visit their official website at http://ncdot.gov/dmv)
  3. Contact your High School to obtain your Driver Eligibility Certificate.  Students who have successfully completed their academic requirements will be issued this certificate by their school or the NC Department of Administration if the student is homeschooled.
  4. Bring the following to your scheduled NC DMV appointment.  
    • Certificate of completion (enclosed here - don't forget your classroom certificate if you took the class somewhere else)

    • Driver's eligibility Certificate (from your High School)

    • Two forms of ID (See NC DMV Website for Approved Forms of ID

    • Parent or Guardian to sign paperwork

  5. At the Learner Permit appointment, you can expect the following: 
    • Computer-Based Test
    • 25 Questions (80% passing grade required)

    • Road Sign Test

    • Vision Exam

What is your refund policy?

Clearview Driving School will not refund any tuition monies or any part thereof when actual services have been rendered.  

Do you offer payment plans?

Clearview Driving School offers a discount for payment via cashier check or money order.  We will accept all credit cards except American Express.  We do not offer payment plans.

Do you charge a cancellation fee?

If you fail to show up for a lesson, do not cancel or reschedule on our website at least 24 hours in advance, you will be charged a $50 or $75 late cancellation fee.

Do I need a temporary license to start driver's ed?
  1. If you are 18 or older, you'll need a valid, unexpired learner permit or driver's license to start driving lessons.
  2. If you are under 18 and have taken the driver education class, you'll need a valid, unexpired learner permit to start driving lessons.
  3.  If you are between 14.5 and 17 and 11 months, you do not need a license or permit to take our driver education class.
How long does it take to complete teen driver's ed class?

The completion time depends on age, scheduling flexibility, and instructor availability. Typically, each student is done with the classroom portion and behind-the-wheel lessons within eight to twelve weeks.

How old do I need to be to start driver's ed?

You must be at least 14 and a half years of age by the first day of the driver's ed class.

What if I forgot my username or password?

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Money Orders, and Cashier Checks.  We DO NOT accept American Express.

Behind-The-Wheel

When can I start the behind-the-wheel lessons?
  1. You can start driving lessons anytime with a valid learner permit or driver's license. Once you have registered and paid in full, you can schedule driving lessons on our website.
  2.  If you are under 18, you must complete the driver's ed class before starting
    behind-the-wheel lessons.
Do you offer home pick-up and drop-off?

All pickup and drop off will be at Clearview Driving School located at 3319-E Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28303.

What will I learn during my behind-the-wheel lessons?
  1. How to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  2. How to navigate the North Carolina transportation rules and regulations.
  3. How to confidently make decisions.
Can I request a specific driving instructor?

Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. If your preferred instructor is open, you can select them for a lesson.

Will I have the same instructor for every lesson?

Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. If the lessons are open, you may choose the same instructor for each lesson or try a different instructor.

Will I have other students in the car with me?

All behind-the-wheel instruction will be one on one for two hours.  No other student will be in the car.

Can I request to have lessons with a friend?

The State of North Carolina only allows two hours of behind-the-wheel instruction a day, so we are not able to accommodate such requests.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my driving lesson?

Should you need to reschedule a lesson, you may do so by logging into your account on our website. You must cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $50 or $75 late cancellation fee.

Are your instructors licensed?

Clearview Driving School instructors are licensed by the State of North Carolina, Division of Motor Vehicles.

Can I use my own car?

No, our vehicles have safety features (passenger brake, passenger mirror, student driver signs, etc.) that don't come in standard cars.

Do I need to have my own car insurance for behind-the-wheel?

No, you are covered under our commercial insurance during all behind-the-wheel training.

How do I schedule a behind-the-wheel lesson?

Log in to your student account on our website. Choose an available time and your preferred instructor.

How fast can I complete behind-the-wheel lessons?

This depends on your scheduling flexibility and instructor availability. You can take one 2-hour behind-the-wheel lesson each day and schedule up to three driving lessons in advance. You must have one practice day between lessons. So you could schedule Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Once you complete Monday's lesson, you could schedule another upcoming lesson.

Our vehicles have safety features (passenger brake, passenger mirror, student driver signs, front, rear & cabin video camera, etc.) that don't come in standard cars.
